Our Trip to the BMW Car Club of America Oktoberfest in 2000
Part Four: BMWCCA Club race at Road Atlanta
BMWCCA - USA
Oktoberfest 2000
In front of the BMW PTG pit area was a NEW BMW E46 M3, later found out it belong to BMW M brand manager. Who later in the day was seen being driven around the track with Hans at the wheel!
The turn out for the BMWCCA club race was to say the least was impressive. Lots of M3’s, but also the CSL looked the class of the field of entrants. Last years PTG M3 GT’s looked mean and purposeful. The paintwork on the cars matched up to the high standard of driving. The race it self was one by an ex PTG M3, it started the race at the back, but was in front by lap 3!
Now it was time to move on the next day to Greenville
to register our group in for the Oktoberfest 2000...
The following day we were back at Road Atlanta raceway for not only the BMWCCA club race but also to get a ride around the racetrack.
When we arrived the BMWCCGB party went over to the main pit area. Due to the late night finish of the Petit Le Mans race most of the teams were still here. We had the opportunity to not only meet and talk to Hans Stuck but I took a group photograph, one for the memories
While making our back to the outer pit area we took the once in a lifetime chance of standing on the winners podium, the champagne bottle being the actual presentation bottle.
