Our Trip to the BMW Car Club of America Oktoberfest in 2000
Part Six: BMW Manufacturing plant and BMW Museum
The BMW Zentrum is a 28,000 square foot visitor’s centre and display facility that communicates BMW’s heritage of engineering excellence, innovation, and commitment to social responsibility.
Four separate but integrated galleries give visitors a view of BMW philosophy and commitment to engineering excellence, environmental quality, manufacturing excellences, and cultural enrichment. Zentrum displays range from the 1930 Dixi and the legendary E30 M3 Touring car, to the Z3 roadster driven by James Bond and exotic concept cars. The Zentrum exhibits are also much more than just automobiles. On display you’ll find aircraft engines, BMW motorcycles, and racing cars. Also on display is the fastest BMW, which a land speed record holder in it’s time.
It was now time to cross the main road and visit not only the BMW Museum and take one of the tours of the BMW Manufacturing plant tours.
Unfortunately we were not allowed to take any photos of the Manufacturing tour, where as they say this is the home of the Zee 3 and X5.
