2002 Concours

The South East Region of the BMWCC held its annual concours on 29th September at a new venue, Beech Court Gardens, Challock, Kent. This once hop-picking venue was over 60 years ago laid out as an informal Woodland garden and made a wonderful backdrop for this event. The weather was sunny and fine so club members basked in a late Indian summer’s day. The turn out of over 50 BMW carsreinforced the fact to it being a fine day to come out and enjoy the company of fellow BMW enthusiasts.

As the popular saying goes “Varity is the spice of life”, and to those club members who were looking around the many series and models of BMW cars that presented themselves that day, from the fantastic 02’s to the many different 3series from Motorsport to E21. Showroom condition 5 series, the elegant 6’s, Z1,Z3, 8 series and late arrivals on the day the E32  7 series group paid us a visit. There was defiantly something for everybody on display. The lawn by the main house was a perfect setting and Mrs Millar – Thomas and the staff of Beech Court Gardens made all the members of the car club most welcome. Local BMW dealership Broad Oakalso supported the event and Andrew Thrush dealership principal visited us and Tim Hart helped out on the Judging front. The judging started at 11am and after a difficult job due to the high standard of preparation of the cars in the concours they reached their conclusions.

Prize giving started just after 3pm and the comedy duo of Dave and Selwyn presented the trophies. The raffle was next, the many Polar bear ride ornaments with the look at Christmas, so Selwyn informs me! Seemed to be the last to go. The model BMW motorbike was one of the first to go. So the event finished around 4pm and members could either make their way home or take one last look around the gardens. Cream teas with homemade cakes served in the garden or in the old farm oasthouse also added to the event. Club members took the opportunity to visit the craft shop and Plant Nursery where local crafts and unusual plants propagated were on sale. The thank you’s go to: Andrew Thrush and Tim Hart of Broad Oak BMW. Mrs Millar-Thomas and staff of Beech Court Gardens, Concours Judges: Dave, Rob, Selwyn and Tim. Simon who collected gate money, Charles who sold the Raffle tickets and last but not least to all the club members who came either to take part or just visit the event. So yet another successful event was held in the South East Region of the BMW car club.

More BMWs on the display

Broad Oak BMW Dealership in Canterbury supported the event.
