In the Afternoon after lunch at Diekirch we had a Culture program where we visited a Motor muesum, beer museum and the National Milataire museum, all in Diekirch.
Our day at the Goodyear test track in Colmar-Berg started with safety tests before you went on the track.
The four safety tasks were held in two areas.
In the first area our group (English speaking), first of all had to show our driving skill of accurate steering, which was a slalom though cones on a wet surface. The next task was to prove that if you double your speed you quadruped your stopping distance on a wet road. Which even with ABS fully working IT DID.
We moved to the second area where it was meant to be avoidance test on a wet road surface. I promise we did try to avoid the water fountains as they popped up in different locations in the area, and finally the skid test. This was done by a device that pushed the rear wheels to one side as you passed over it. Making sure that you had the clutch down as you drove over it you were pushed into a spin (again on wet surface). I think the maximum we got were 3x 360% rotations!
And then out on the track !
Saturday 27th August 2005 - Today we set of in convoy to the Goodyear Test Track in Colmar-berg. Goodyear is Luxemburg's third biggest employer with some 3,500 staff. Next to the extensive production facilities and European R&D centre with some 900 highly quilified technicians. Goodyear operates a tyre test track next to its premises.
