I have the sad duty to report that Glen Wells our region Chairman passed away on Thursday 27th January 2005
The only blessing out of this tragic event, is that Glen did not suffer to long with the appalling cancer.
For those of us who knew Glen well, will remember him with fond memories.
Glen's Funeral was held on Tuesday 8th February 2005 at noon. Their were many BMW Car Club members in the over 120 mourners at the cremation.
Glen was laid to rest in his South East Region BMW Car Club T-shirt and his SE Baseball cap along with his work cap adorned the coffin.

Glen's Funeral Eulogy
My name is Melvyn Pettit and Pauline has asked me to say a few words regarding Glen's involvement with the BMW Car Club. I am member of the South East Region committee, and in March 2004 Glen was voted in as our regional’s Chairman, and Pauline also joined our committee.
As most of you know Glen was a keen BMW enthusiast for many a year. And as he had worked on his own BMWs, he pasted on a lot of helpful technical information to members he met at club events, or those who e-mailed enquires to him.
My first contact with Glen was in 1999, when I handed him a club membership form on our stand at the Bexhill on Sea, Festival of Motoring show. The next time I saw him, was when he pitched up (literally) as Pauline, Sarah and Glen were camping at the Danson Park weekend event.
That Saturday night they joined us in the local Pub, Restaurant for an evening meal, like others on the committee, Glen liked his food, so felt at home with us greedy lot. The lasting impression and taste of that meal was the Stewed Coffee we had at the end.
The next day was Sarah's Birthday, and Barry Gordge our regions Chairman at the time,"Press ganged" her into giving away the Concours trophies.
This event set the framework for many fun packed weekends. As Glen and Pauline became more involved in the Club. And over the last 2 years Glen was the driving force behind our Successful Main South East Region Event held at The Hop Farm.
We not only enjoyed Glen’s company nearly every weekend at some event around the country, as he joked, " It's the only time Pauline gets of the settee".
He and Pauline joined us on trips abroad.
In December 2003, they came with us on a weekend trip to Dusseldorf in Germany to not only visit the BMW ART Cars display but also to take in the famous German Christmas markets. It was the first time he got Pauline on an Aeroplane! And the hot chicken soup we all had, at the outside Christmas Market, was welcome on that cold day.
In 2004 Glen, Pauline, Sarah and Jim became part of group that spent a week. Not only at the 24hr Spa -Francorchamps race in Belgium, but we also had a yearly fix of driving around the Nurburgring racetrack in Germany.
As we arrived at the car park he reported his car had brake trouble, so he and Pauline became passengers with me on a lap a round the ring. Glen also became cameraman as he videoed fellow club members Tony and Paul in their following BMWs.
The evenings we spent on Ann & Neil's patio taking in the Belgian beer and countryside, plus trying to hang on the back of American Army Half-track in over 90% of heat as we travelled over part of "The Battle of Bulge" Battlefield, will be fond memories of that trip, and we will raise a glass to him on this years trip.
For those of us in the club who knew him well, and by the Condolences sent to Pauline and family there are many
We will remember Glen as a hard working Chairman, and he embodied what the club was about, Friendship! We have never known Glen not to be smiling and we never had a dull moment when he was around, we always had a laugh, and the fun we had with Glen at club events will sadly be missed.
As Glen worked in the construction industry, and in his youth worked over in Europe (Holland and Germany) on building projects, and having his Land Rover confiscated in Amsterdam being one of his stories. I will remember him along the lines of one of the funniest comedy TV series " Auf Wiedersehen Pet". With our seven committee members, Glen would have had to been the character "OZ". The life of the party!
So with a heavy heart, "Auf Wiedersehen Glen"
