International Z meeting
31st August 2008
As part of our trip to the BMW Club Europa meeting in Engelberg, Switzerland our group along with many other BCE members stayed on to view the International Z meeting, held at the same venue as BCE treffin.
Soon the groups of BMW Zs started turning up, from points all over Europe.
As the BMW Zs arrived, they were ushered into the booking in area. Where their arrival noted, the driver given a welcome pack, and a marshal turned the counter board. This showed how many BMW Zs had arrived at meeting.
Now the vast car park area was filling up nicely. The array of BMW Z model machinery was very impressive. From the TEN BMW Z8s I counted, to TWELVE Z1s, Z4s and I lost count of Z Coupes, Z3s to many to count!
As you would expect from a BMW Club meeting, BMW owners like to have their own individual styled vehicle, from interiors of all colours, to the Z 8 with matt finish paintwork, BMW Z4 with modified with Lamborghini style fly up doors, copy of A.R. Penck BMW Z 1 Artcar and an “007” Z3, to name but a few.
The welcome pack along with all the usual goodies has a VIP passport to view the NEW 3 series stretched Limo. The vehicle was in a tent and entry to view only granted to persons with VIP ticket.
The organisers of the Z meeting were hoping for around 400 Zs to be present. The final total was 371, which is a BMW world record for a Z meeting.
With ours cars, not being BMW Zs, parked down the far end of the Titlis car park along with other non Z BMWs that turned up just for the day. A line 8 series and a BMW M1 Procar just being some!
The Z meeting started to break up about 3pm, so we took the cable car up two stops to visit the “Trübsee” the lake we had passed over onto way to Titlis restaurant on Friday night.
Our last evening in Engelberg was spent in restaurant, Ann, Barry, Selwyn and I were joined by Peter Rust and John Safe, later at the ajoining table Keith Waller’s group joined us.
Tomorrow, time to start head home, but first stop is Mulhouse to visit Schlumpf Collection…READ ON.
