A REPORT FROM NATIONAL COMMITTEE MEETING
No 164 - 27th January 2008 - Issue 41
AGM 2008
Next years AGM will take place at Duxford Imperial War Museum, Cambridgeshire on Sunday 11th May.
Amended Club Rules & Articles of Association
Thanks to some hard work by our Company Secretary and Club Secretary the clubs rules/articles have been updated/refreshed/modernised to better reflect on the club how it operates today. The amendments were agreed by the board and have now been sent to a solicitor experienced in company law.
Delegates Day at Gaydon 19/4/08
The agenda has now been set for the Delegates Day and will be forwarded to club officials in the next week or so.
National Festival 10/8/08
The Board is looking at new features for the National Festival at Gaydon, to help keep the event ‘fresh’. The Aston Martin test track is booked again, we have tried to book the Red Arrows (on holiday in August) but we do have commitment to have an indoor display of ’tuner’ cars (Hartge, Schnitzer ad hopefully Hamann and G Power) as well as a car or two from Alpina. If anyone else has any ideas for ‘Headlining’ attractions that will draw the crowds in and make the show even better please let me know.
It was also agreed that the main feature of the festival in 2008 would be an impressive display from the E30 Register to mark the 25th birthday of this iconic model.
New Club Director
We are pleased to announce that Simon Brookes from Central Region (where he serves as regional secretary) has applied to be co-opted onto the board. This will take place at the March meeting and will then need to be ratified at the AGM.
2007 Draft Accounts
The 2007 draft accounts were approved by the board and the final accounts will be available from the club office once the final documents arrive back from the Auditors and have been approved by the board for circulation.
Bimmerfest
It was decided that Stoneleigh wasn’t the right venue for the clubs indoor festival so the Club Secretary was asked to go away from the meeting tasked with getting a price for Donington, with maybe a track day attached to the event to give it wider appeal. We also want to open the show out to more of a ‘clubby’ type event with plenty of autojumble etc.
We also want your input, so we will be discussing the indoor festival with you all at the Delegates Day in April (19th at Gaydon), including moving the event to either late November or Spring (possibly March) so it isn’t too close to either Gaydon or the Santa Pod event.
Risk Assessment
The subject of Risk Assessment and its implications for Regions & Registers will be an Agenda item at the Delegates Day in April.
Directors Roles & Responsibilities
The two most important positions have now been filled. Andy McArthur is to look after the Registers as the Register Liaison Officer, and Ross Harris is to look after the Regions.
Darren Webster has also agreed to take over as the clubs librarian/archivist.
