A REPORT FROM NATIONAL COMMITTEE MEETING
No 165 - 16th March 2008 - Issue 42
AGM 2008 – Amended Club Rules & Articles of Association
Thanks to the hard work of our Company and Club Secretary, the board will have a revised/updated set of club rules and articles of association which will need to be approved by club members by way of a vote at the AGM in May. The rules and articles have basically been updated/modernised to partly reflect the changes in technology with the Internet becoming increasingly prominent in everyday life, with most households’ now owning a PC.
Copies of the amended rules/articles will be available fro the club office from April onwards, and a notice will appear in the April edition of the club magazine reflecting this.
Delegates Day at Gaydon 19/4/08
We have modified the agenda and running order slightly – the new agenda etc will be emailed out to you in the next 7-10 days.
National Festival 10/8/08
We are still awaiting your thoughts and ideas for new attractions for this years event.
2007 Accounts
The 2007 accounts will be available from the club office from April and a notice will appear in the April edition of the club magazine reflecting this.
Indoor Festival
We can confirm that no Indoor Festival will take place in 2008 due to either the high cost of hall hire (Donington) or unsuitability of venue (Stoneleigh).
Registers
There is a feeling that some registers don’t offer ‘VFM’ to members who join. Therefore we will be updating the current ‘Register guideline’ and taking a more proactive role to ensure the registers offer what the members want – the registers will also be discussed at the Delegates Day.
Pin Awards
The following members will be presented with Bronze pin awards at the national AGM at Duxford in May – Karen Liddle, Diana Leake, Pat Chandler, Steve Bostock and James Sohl.
Den Haag Trophy
The board voted that Cathy Heywood be awarded the Den Haag trophy at the National AGM in May for her tireless hard work over the years and for the formation of the Ladies Section which has been very successful. (The club chairman abstained from the vote)
Peter Samuelson Trophy
This is a very special award which is presented to someone who has worked or served the club well over and above the call of duty, and it hasn’t been awarded since the clubs 50th Anniversary at Woburn Abbey in 2002 when it was awarded to Jeff Heywood.
The board voted unanimously to award the Peter Samuelson Trophy this year to Ross Harris for the commitment, time, effort and personal financial cost that he has dedicated on behalf of the club over the past 3-4 years. The board also took into consideration his work with the Coupe Register and as a board member – the award is well deserved.
Ross will be presented with the trophy at the AGM at Duxford.
